About Tic Tac Toe

Play Tic Tac Toe against an AI opponent in two modes: the classic 3×3 game and Ultimate Tic Tac Toe, where every square of the big board is a small board of its own. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard — on Hard the classic AI never loses.

How to play

  1. Classic: get three X's in a row — across, down or diagonally.
  2. Ultimate: win small boards to claim squares on the big board.
  3. In Ultimate, the square you pick decides which small board your opponent must play next.
  4. If you're sent to a finished board, you can play anywhere.

Controls

  • Click or tap a square to place your X

Features

  • Classic 3×3 and Ultimate 9×9 modes
  • Three difficulty levels
  • Unbeatable minimax AI on Hard
  • Win/draw/loss tally

Strategy & practical tips

  1. In Classic, check for an immediate win, then block an immediate loss. After that, look for a fork that creates two winning lines.
  2. Against Classic Hard, a draw is a successful result with correct play. The minimax opponent is designed not to lose.
  3. In Ultimate, consider both the square you claim and the small board that move sends your opponent to. A local gain can offer a stronger reply elsewhere.

A common mistake

In Ultimate, concentrating on winning one small board while sending the opponent to a board where they can complete the big-board line.
